Registered Psychology Associate (Part time)

As a registered psychology associate at Malouf Counseling and Consulting you will have an opportunity to join a small team of practitioners committed to providing culturally competent care to LGBTQI2-S individuals in a queer-owned practice that emphasizes empirical training and intervention, advocacy and access. More now than ever, our community needs providers who are able to serve this diverse population.  Our office is conveniently located in Northcentral Baltimore in the vibrant Cross Keys community and houses our practitioners as well as several allied psychology and behavioral health colleagues.

Position Duties

Psychology associates are expected to conduct intakes and provide individual outpatient psychotherapy, write notes and maintain their schedule under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.  Our practice typically sees 75% of our patients in-person and 25% virtually so associates are expected to be on-site for sessions.  All sessions are recorded regardless of modality.  Psychology associates typically choose two days a week (or a comparable combination of half-days) and schedule twelve sessions per week once they are full.

Compensation Model

Psychology associates are paid as W2 employees since they are not independently licensed contractors.  We pay an hourly rate based upon when clinical services are rendered (as opposed to when payments are received from insurance) as we believe students should have reliable income that is not impacted by delays in claims processing.  We also pay students for their time in supervision (typically 1.5-3 hours per week) which is consistent with our W2 model. Other benefits include: reimbursement for licensing and CEs, opportunities for bonuses (both merit and non-merit-based), liability insurance coverage and access to a non-matching retirement plan.

Opportunities to Specialize

Gender Affirming Care: Associates will have the opportunity to specialize in transgender health and will receive training on conducting gender-affirming pre-surgical evaluations.  Dr. Malouf is an international expert in intersex and transgender health, having served on WPATH’s revision committee, as well as range of related workgroups and committees (e.g. APA, SAMHSA, PSI-I) and Ms. Haddad, in addition to having dual masters in bioethics and social work, has served as a behavioral health provider on a multi-disciplinary gender treatment teams for nearly a decade.  All providers specializing in gender-affirming care are asked to provide the equivalent of two sessions of pro-bono work a month.

Relationship Therapy: Our practice often receives requests for relationship/couples therapists who specialize in working with same-sex families, couples with LGBTQI children, or relationships where one or more partners are exploring gender identity or transitioning.  Opportunities exist for advanced associates with a background in couples or family work or interest in growing their couples’ experience. You can read more about our approach to relationship therapy here.
